wake up, drink up!

Not often considered a nutrient, water is the most important food we consume. The human body is made of 66 per cent water – it is vital for all processes in the body to take place.

At night when we are asleep our body experiences a period of fasting. Fasting allows our body to repair itself. In the morning liquids are the best way to break a fast and to maximise benefits of repair that has happened during the night.

Drinking water upon waking:

Treat your insides and drink water immediately upon waking. Aim for a large glass and wait 15- 30 minutes before breakfast to avoid diluting digestive juices and interrupting nutrient extraction from your breakfast. Leave a large glass by your bed at night and get it done!
